Do You Have Patience?

Patience is not just having the ability to wait but having the ability to wait without complaining.  Patience – the capacity to accept or tolerate delay, trouble, or suffering without getting angry or upset.  When I read this definition, I knew that more than likely I simply am not a patient person.  I can’t even think of one occasion when patience was needed and exhibited by me accordingly.  Not to say it has never happened but I can’t remember a time when it has in my life.  Some may think that’s not a good thing considering I am a woman of God and a Ordained Christian Minister.  I’m not perfect by any means, I’ve just accepted the call of God for my life.  I’m learning and working on myself day by day.

In God’s Word, the Bible, patience is key to growing spiritually in God’s will.  Romans 5:1-5 KJV, Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.  No one wants to suffer but in tribulation and hard times patience is needed.  Our attitude can often determine how well we will do during times of trouble.  Patience can make a devastating situation much more tolerable and helps us to focus on drawing the lesson from the experience.  I believe part of God’s will is that we grow, learn, appreciate and share how we made it through!

Whether we exercised patience or not we should all learn something from every situation in our lives.  Sharing our testimonies will help others realize that they are not alone.  We all suffer trials and tribulations, which are a natural part of life.  It’s God and His Word, the Bible that can give us the edge and the ability to make it through with appreciation for the experience.
